Dilemmas of a Writer

The articles on this blog may include affiliate links. If you buy from it, I will earn a small commission from that purchase.

Being a writer and doing it as a profession is not as easy as it sounds. Sure, as a freelance writer, I don't have to leave my home anymore. I can work wherever and whenever I want.

It does sound like a dream come true. But not until you experience it yourself. Since I'm getting my clients from a writing platform, I have to choose the topics and write them.

The problem is, that there are clients who may except another way of how the content will be written. But you are given a chance to write your request down. Why not do it in the first place?

Dilemmas of a Writer

  1. Rejection

Understandably, rejection is part of being a writer. But some of those who are buying the writer's article, just reject it without saying anything.

I wonder if that client even considered that the writer spent time and effort to write that piece. I guess not.

If that person is smart enough, he should have figured it out and asked for revision instead of just rejecting it just like that!

  1. Stolen Article

All writers are spending time and effort on research and writing. But some clients will just reject the job and end up not paying the writer's effort.

But what some writers don't know is that their article has been stolen already. Since it has been submitted to the client, it's very easy to just copy it and use it.

Personally, I add my rejected in my blog or with my account on Vocal Media. That way, if the client tries to post it, that will be plagiarized since it's mine.

  1. Bad Treatment

Hiring managers look down on writers as if they are stupid. Writers are experts and they should be treated with respect. They will not be writers if they don't know how to write in the first place.

Some clients talk to writers as if they are better than them. If you're better, why not do the writing yourself? Some people are so proud as if they know everything.

Writers are getting bad treatment from other people who should be nice to them. They need you, not the other way around. So don't let these people look down on what we do!

  1. Expectations

Some clients think that writers can read their minds. You have to tell us what you need so we can apply it when we're already writing. Writers are not psychics!

Even if some writers can read your mind, you still need to say how you want your content written. It's not that hard to inform the writer how you want the article written.

  1. Not Enough Earning

Not all writers are earning enough so don't be an a*sshole trying to get an article for free! Unless that writer is a successful blogger, most of us are just charging a small amount for something that you can use to make your business grow.

We have other people to support as well. That's why we're dealing with these mundane tasks. Sure, sometimes we may not deliver it exactly the way you want it to be. But don't be so harsh when you just need some editing done!

Compared to what you're paying for, that article can go viral. So, think twice before rejecting the writer's work since we write it with good intentions.

Conclusion

This article is more of a rant. I'm speaking for those writers who cannot write what they want. For whatever reasons they may have, I have to talk about it. Sadly, other people treat writers as if we're their slaves.

Well, guess what? We're not! Sooner or later, our talent will get recognized by smart clients. They will appreciate our work because they understand it.

Our blog audience will also realize that being a writer is not an easy job. So for those unfair clients out there, you should be more considerate and appreciate what writers can really do for your business!
